Welcome Class of 2022
An enthusiastic and impressive group of 685 freshmen are the newest members of the Baldwin Wallace community. With high aspirations, they began their college experience at this year's Week of Welcome, which started Aug. 15 with move-in day.
As a group, they are accomplished, diverse and ready to make their mark both on campus and later in the world. They hail from 32 states and have impressive scholastic achievement as well as leadership, service and extracurricular involvement.
Among notable statistics, 23 percent represent students of color and 67 students are members of the BW Honors Program. As they join the BW community, they bring a vibrancy to the campus and to the other 3,100 students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
SNAPSHOT LOOK AT THE CLASS OF 2022:

Both science and technology as well as social sciences and humanities were cited as the main academic areas of interest by 20 percent of the students. Performing arts was next at 18 percent and business followed at 15 percent. Health was listed by 14 percent of the students, interdisciplinary by eight percent and education by five percent.

More than 145 students were National Honor Society members. The average high school grade point average was 3.5.

Nearly 360 students were varsity athletes and 93 were varsity captains.

Eighty-seven individuals were high school marching band members and 185 were music ensemble participants. Sixty-nine individuals participated in community theatre.

Approximately 220 students did volunteer or community service.

Thirty-eight percent of the individuals are the first in their family to pursue a four-year degree.
