BW associate dean, psychology professor named American Council on Education Fellow
Baldwin Wallace University psychology professor and associate dean of BW's School of Social Sciences, Dr. Dale Grubb, has been chosen for a prestigious, year-long fellowship by The American Council on Education (ACE).
Grubb is one of just 39 emerging higher education leaders from across the country to be selected for the 2019-20 ACE Fellows Program following a rigorous nomination and application process.
"I am both honored and humbled by my selection to serve as an ACE Fellow," said Grubb. "BW is affording me the chance to immerse myself in an extraordinary leadership experience, gaining knowledge and skills that contribute to my professional development, and will also benefit BW upon my return."
Placement and project
Established in 1965, the ACE Fellows is said to be the longest-running leadership development program in the U.S. The program utilizes a distinctive and intensive mentorship model designed to strengthen leadership in American higher education.
In addition to retreats and other training, Grubb will spend the 2019-20 academic year at Xavier University in Cincinnati, where he will observe and work with the president and other senior officers at his host institution, attend decision-making meetings and focus on issues of interest. The program also requires Grubb to research a priority project for BW and work to implement the findings at the conclusion of his fellowship year at Xavier.
"We are pleased that Dale was selected to be part of this outstanding program," said BW President Bob Helmer. "We look forward to welcoming him back to our campus at the close of the experience, and we are confident he will find many opportunities to deploy the full range of skills and insights he gains to benefit BW."
Building Leadership Capacity
"The ACE Fellows Program epitomizes ACE's goal of enriching the capacity of leaders to innovate and adapt," said ACE President Ted Mitchell.
More than 80% of the 2,000 faculty and staff who have completed the program over the past 50 years having gone on to serve as senior leaders of colleges and universities.
