BW business, health care MBA alumnus named CFO at Ohio hospice provider
With a B.A. in Business Administration and an MBA in Health Care from Baldwin Wallace, Jeff Kovacs '99, MBA '10, is taking on a new financial leadership role as chief financial officer at Hospice of the Western Reserve (HWR).
He now leads the accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, banking relationships and general business operations, of the nonprofit agency that provides palliative end-of-life care, caregiver support and bereavement services.

HWR President and CEO Bill Finn credits operational efficiencies and successful annual audits to Kovacs' long-term vision. "As a health care industry finance and operations expert with more than 20 years of solid strategic planning skills, he is well-qualified to provide the financial leadership our organization needs to continue to thrive in a challenging health care environment," Finn said.

Prior
to
his
appointment,
Kovacs
served
as
HWR's
Director
of
Finance
for
four
years,
managing
the
accounts
payable,
accounting,
payroll
and
procurement
operations
teams.
He
was
also
director
of
finance
and
revenue
cycle
management
for
Akron
General
Hospital,
where
he
oversaw
financial
and
billing
operations
of
a
multispecialty
physician
group
with
more
than
200
providers.
Kovacs is a licensed CPA in Ohio and has served as treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for the American College of Healthcare Executives, Northern Ohio Chapter. He is also an active member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
