US News Ranks BW Among the Best in the Midwest, Tops for Teaching, Social Mobility
For the 27th straight year, Baldwin Wallace University is among U.S. News & World Report's best colleges in the nation with a number of additional accolades.
In the 2021 "America's Best Colleges" survey, BW is again among a small group of Midwest schools also singled out for
- an "unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching,"
- effectively promoting social mobility,
- innovation in education,
- best value and
- support for veterans.
Best in the Midwest and Superior Teaching
The newly released U.S. News survey places BW among the leading regional universities, ranking number 10 on the 2021 "Midwest's Best Universities" list. BW has enjoyed a top 15 ranking for more than two decades.
The recognition for "Best Undergraduate Teaching" is an honor determined by a survey of college presidents, provosts and admissions deans at peer institutions.
"Teaching is the central mission of BW professors, and their commitment shows in student outcomes," said BW President Bob Helmer. "Especially this year, as our faculty members have risen to every challenge with creativity and innovation, we're grateful to have their exceptional efforts earn this recognition."
Value, Innovation and Social Mobility
BW also returned to three other lists that make a big difference to all students. First, BW is ranking among the "Most Innovative Schools" in the midwest, reflected in new programs and facilities like the cutting-edge Knowlton Center for computer science, engineering, math and physics, set to open in January 2021.
Second, BW is singled out for improving the lives of students upon graduation with a "Best for Social Mobility" ranking, which measures a school's success in graduating underserved students who receive federal Pell Grant support.
Third, the "Best Value" ranking reflects the generous scholarships and financial support that create affordable excellence and access for students from all backgrounds.
Best for Veterans
BW's commitment to the educational goals of military veterans and active-duty service members also landed the University on the U.S. News list of "Best Colleges for Veterans." The ranking recognizes, among other factors, BW's participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
BW's strong Military and Veteran Support Team provides help navigating the process of admission, financial aid, academic advising, career services and certification of enrollment. Listed as a Military Friendly School by GI Jobs since 2008, BW also offers credit for military training, a student-veteran organization for peer support and a student veteran's center for gathering, studying and enjoying other comforts.
