BW accolades abound in 2022 US News Rankings
Baldwin Wallace University shines in the latest rankings of the nation's top colleges by U.S. News & World Report, up one notch to number nine among the 2022 "Midwest's Best Universities" list.
It's the 28th straight year the magazine's survey of "America's Best Colleges" places BW among the leading regional universities, but that's not where the kudos end. BW is also lauded for superior achievement in a variety of areas including:
- Best Undergrad Teaching.
- Best Value.
- Most Innovative.
- Social Mobility.
- Best for Veterans.
Tops for teaching and innovation
The recognition of BW's stellar faculty for "Best Undergraduate Teaching" is an honor determined by a survey of college presidents, provosts and admissions deans at peer institutions.
BW also ranks among the "Most Innovative Schools" in the Midwest, reflected in new programs and facilities like the cutting-edge Knowlton Center for computer science, engineering, math and physics that opened earlier this year and distinctive regional partnerships.
"Teaching and innovation go hand in hand for our faculty," said BW President Bob Helmer. "Our professors consistently break new ground in and out of the classroom, creating programs and experiences for our students that prepare them for careers in the ever-changing world we live in. They are a truly exceptional group of teachers and mentors who have earned this recognition."
Best value and social mobility
For students looking to get the best return on their tuition investment, a 2022 "Best Value" ranking reflects both the quality of a BW education and the generous scholarships and financial support that create affordable excellence and access for students from all backgrounds.
BW also earned a commendation for improving the lives of students upon graduation with a "Best for Social Mobility" ranking, which measures a school's success in graduating underserved students who receive federal Pell Grant support.
Best for Vets
BW's commitment to the educational goals of military veterans and active-duty service members also landed the University on the U.S. News list of "Best Colleges for Veterans." The ranking recognizes, among other factors, BW's participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
BW's strong Military and Veteran Support Team provides help navigating the process of admission, financial aid, academic advising, career services and certification of enrollment. Listed as a Military Friendly School by GI Jobs since 2008, BW also offers credit for military training, a student-veteran organization for peer support and a student veteran's center for gathering, studying and enjoying other comforts.
Additional Accolades
The U.S. News results affirm other "best college" rankings, including The Wall Street Journal/Time Higher Education (WSJ/THE), Forbes, Washington Monthly's "Best Bang for the Buck: Midwest" and Princeton Review, which lists Midwest schools that are "academically outstanding and well worth consideration in your college search."
